REACH-INITIATIVE UGANDA is committed to reducing the burden of HIV/AIDS by delivering integrated, community-led, and evidence-based interventions that improve prevention, treatment, care, and support services for vulnerable populations. Our HIV/AIDS Programme works closely with government health facilities, community structures, development partners, and local leaders to ensure equitable access to quality HIV services while promoting dignity, inclusion, and human rights.
Our interventions focus on increasing HIV prevention awareness, expanding access to HIV testing services, strengthening linkage to treatment, improving retention in care, supporting antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence, and reducing stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV (PLHIV). We empower communities through health education, peer support groups, household follow-up, and community dialogues that encourage early testing, treatment adherence, and positive living.
Special attention is given to vulnerable populations, including women, children, adolescents, young people, pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs), and underserved rural communities. Through integrated health outreach services, community mobilization, psychosocial support, and capacity building of community health workers, REACH-INITIATIVE UGANDA strengthens local systems that improve health outcomes and enhance community resilience.
The programme also promotes the prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT), tuberculosis (TB)/HIV collaborative activities, sexual and reproductive health education, gender equality, mental health support, and economic empowerment initiatives that improve the well-being of affected households. Recognizing that stigma remains a major barrier to accessing HIV services, we work with community champions, faith leaders, youth groups, and local institutions to foster acceptance, protect human rights, and create supportive environments for people living with HIV.
Through strategic partnerships and continuous monitoring and evaluation, REACH-INITIATIVE UGANDA remains dedicated to contributing to Uganda’s national HIV response by preventing new infections, improving the quality of life for people living with HIV, and building healthier, stronger, and more resilient communities where everyone has the opportunity to live with dignity and hope. This community-based, integrated approach aligns with Uganda’s broader HIV response priorities, including HIV prevention, testing, treatment, stigma reduction, and community engagement.
